João Concha is a published illustrator born in Évora, Portugal (1980).

At 18 he moved to Lisbon to study architecture, meteorology and hat-design. He attended the Illustration Program in CITEN - Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian (2005/2006) as well as short courses in AR.CO - Centro de Arte e Comunicação Visual.

He has been illustrating books, fanzines, magazines, and also works in partnership with theatre companies and other cultural projects, taking part in numerous solo / group exhibitions.

He created the illustration and poetry magazine INÚTIL (with Maria Quintans and Ana Lacerda). He currently runs the small publishing house 'não (edições)', which he founded in 2013.

In his drawings he explores the gesture, the imperfection and even the 'mistake' through different media: charcoal, graphic pen and colored pencils are some of his favorites. "A collage a day" (one at least!) could be his motto.
